New Cornish Day 2024: G-2 (two versions) and P-1

Today we’re releasing the details on three new Cornish traces.

The first one is the Cornish P-1, based on the very first Big Muff that Pete integrated into a rig for David Gilmour. We figured out the exact variant that Gilmour chose to send to Pete for cloning, and it’s not one that has been previously associated with him—so if you’re a Big Muff or Gilmour fan then you will want to see the details on this one.

The second is actually two traces in one. The Cornish G-2 was traced a long time ago, but the DIY recreations of the circuit have had persistent issues since then. Many have wondered whether the original trace was correct—or if it is, whether Pete has changed it since 2006, the year of the unit that was traced. We have the full details on both a 2008 Grey Series model and a 2012 Battery-Free model, so you can compare all three and see how it has evolved. (Spoiler: none of the three units are the same.)

There are no new PCB releases to go along with the traces this time. The P-1 was released as the Halo Deluxe back in April, and the Cygnus documentation has been updated to reflect the latest version of the G-2.
